I would be grateful if you could pass this on to potentially interested applicants:

Graduate Student Fellowship at the University of British Columbia

Okanagan campus, Kelowna BC, CANADA

I have an opening for a research assistantship for a student who, starting September 2017, would be enrolled as a Masters or PhD student at the beautiful Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC). UBC is an internationally recognized university; it is consistently ranked one of the top three universities in Canada, and one of the Top 50 universities in the world.

The applicant should be interested in undertaking a thesis that is relevant to my research program (see https://people.ok.ubc.ca/lgabora/publications.htm and https://people.ok.ubc.ca/lgabora/research.htm). General areas for possible topics include (but are not limited to):

The applicant will ideally have an undergraduate degree in psychology, computer science, cognitive science, creative writing, or fine arts, and either (1) computer programming experience, or (2) research experience (e.g., as part of an honours program for an undergraduate degree). The applicant will also ideally have the ambition to continue on to a PhD after getting a Masters.

The Application Deadline is approaching fast. The student must either apply to (or already be enrolled in):

(1) the Psychology Department (Deadline: December 1, 2016),

(2) the Interdisciplinary Studies Program (Deadline: January 31, 2017), or

(3) another department of UBC Okanagan, in which case you would be co-supervised by someone from that Department (Deadline depends on department)

Note: these deadlines are for Completed Applications. In some cases incomplete applications are considered (if it is clear that attempts are underway to complete the application), but they may be less competitive and ineligible for various forms of financial assistance (which can be particularly important if you are not Canadian).

Kelowna BC (pop. 123,500), known as "Canada’s Four Season Playground", is the largest city in the Okanagan Valley. Widely considered the most desirable place to live in Canada, it is on a lake surrounded by mountains, streams, wineries and orchards, with excellent opportunities for water sports, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. Please send your application directly to the UBC Okanagan Graduate Studies Program [ https://gradstudies.ok.ubc.ca/prospective/grad-programs.html ] and drop me a line at liane.gabora@ubc.ca so that I can be on the lookout for your application.

Note: I do not currently have funding for a Postdoctoral Position but I am very open to welcoming Postdocs who apply for funding from sources such as this: http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/PD-NP/PDF-BP_eng.asp
