CTL January 2012 Workshops

Classroom Tech Orientation, Tues. January 3

10:00am-11:00am - ASC 130, will focus on the equipment available in ASC 130 or 140.
1:30pm-2:30pm - SCI 333 will focus on the equipment available in SCI 333, 337, ARTS 366, 376, 386, and FIP 204.
Participants will be given an overview of how to use all the audiovisual equipment provided in UBC Okanagan's technology enhanced classrooms. Please bring your laptop for hands-on practice connecting to the A/V system.

Teaching Portfolios, Wed. January 11, 2:30-3:30pm
This workshop is meant to support faculty with creating a teaching philosophy as part of their teaching dossier. Participants will learn the most important components to include in their philosophy.

Teaching Philosophy, Fri. January 13, 12-12:50pm
This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about the purpose and contents of a teaching portfolio.

Inclusive Classrooms, Wed. January 18, 12-12:50pm
Join the conversation about creating and maintaining inclusive classrooms, dealing with diversity issues and much more.

Teaching Large Classes, Fri. January 20, 12-12:50pm
This workshop will involve participants sharing ideas on best practices with large class sizes. Issues addressed will include use of physical space, assessment practices and implementing group work. If you are looking for new ideas or have some to share then this is a workshop for you!

Teaching Squares, begins Mon. January 23
Faculty will be placed into a "Square" with three other instructors from diverse content areas. An initial meeting is held where participants meet to schedule classroom visits and discuss their goals for participating in the program. Please contact Heather Hurren directly if you are interested in joining the 2012 Teaching Squares Group.

Peer Review, Thur. February 2, 1-3pm
This workshop will examine the process of peer review and be an information session for those needing to be peer reviewed for tenure and promotion, those interested in having a peer review done for formative reasons, and for those who have been given the task of reviewing their peers.

Reflecting on the Past Term

Another term is in the books. What changed in teaching and learning this past term?
