Resource of the Month

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is developing both print and video resources to support the implementation and use of BlackBoard Connect.  The list of resources is being constantly updated and interested faculty can find these supports at Connect Help.

Scholarly Teaching
Each month we will post a journal article about research into teaching and learning. Please take time to read and reflect on the readings as they may impact your teaching and learning situation. We will be hosting a discussion board through a connect shell where you can add your comments and also suggest other articles of interest. If you wish to be added to this Blackboard Connect shell please email Heather Hurren at the Centre with your CWL ID.

A special thank you to Dr. John Willinsky (Stanford University), for his expertise. We invite you to check out Dr. Willinsky's site on the Open Access Movement at the following link.

Teaching Evaluation Process - Your Thoughts!
Give us your feedback on the transition from the print-based teaching evaluations to the on-line version. In order to continually improve the system we are seeking Faculty, Administrator and Student feedback on the changes. In particular we would like you to share any insights into what is working and areas where you see challenges.

Tech Tips

Faculty and students are often looking for free music that can be used to enhance presentations and video productions. A number of music creators are licensing their works under the Creative Commons Licenses.  A list of web sites that provide access to music which fall under Creative Commons’ flexible copyright licenses are listed below. If you are interesting in using a piece from one of these sites:

  • Check the licensing attached to the music
  • Ensure properly credit the musician and the track.
  • Express the CC license the track is under.
