UBC Okanagan 6th Annual Learning Conference

Learning Through Research
May 5 & 6, 2010

This year’s conference is filled with a variety of interesting sessions over the 2-day free event. The keynotes – Dr. John Smol and Dr. Gweneth Doane will start us off each morning with an invigorating talk about the intersection of teaching and research. There are over 20 sessions in total over the 2 days with most time slots offering 3 choices and a few unique sessions this year including a showcase of teaching and research activities at UBC Okanagan as well as an exploration of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. As a free conference to UBC Okanagan faculty, this conference is a must-do. Please register so that we can get our numbers correct for the catered breaks and lunches. Hope to see you there!

Course (Re) Design Seminars

Our 3rd Annual Course (Re)Design Seminar will take place from Monday, May 10th to Thursday, May 13th inclusive.  Faculty will be re-designing or creating new courses to implement in the fall. The seminar is an interdisciplinary gathering exploring learning objectives, assessment strategies, instructional strategies and course content.


Faculty Instructional Skills Seminar

Date: May 17-19
This workshop is designed to enhance new and veteran teacher’s learning environment facilitation skills. The 3 day experience will involve participants learning and applying instructional design in the creation of mini-lessons that will be taught to the group. Feedback will be provided and will be incorporated in further mini-lessons and peer evaluations.
