Welcome Reception

Please join us for a welcome reception on Sunday, June 8 at 7 PM until 9PM (NOTE! The time of the welcome reception changed. May 23) in the Sun Room of the Student Services Centre at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. The map of the campus will help you locate the Student Services Centre on campus. On-site registration will be open prior to the reception and buses will return participants to the hotels after the event.

Conference tours

Two recreational tours have been organized for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11 2008. The estimated duration of the excursions will be from 1:30 PM until around 7 PM. A minimum number of participants are required for the tours to be offered so please make sure to book your choice when registering for the conference.

• Winery tour
  The sunny climate of the Okanagan Valley creates ideal conditions for producing wines that regularly win national and international competitions. Tasting tours have been arranged at three local wineries and participants will enjoy stunning views of Lake Okanagan as they travel by bus to the various locations. • Hiking tour in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park
  The Park is named after the beautiful Kalamalka Lake (Lake of a Thousand Colours) and encompasses 978 hectares of pristine natural beauty in the northern part of the Okanagan Valley. Kalamalka Lake is known as a "marl lake". When the lake warms in the summer, dissolved limestone crystallizes giving the lake a distinctive blue and green hue. When the lake cools, the limestone crystals disappear. A hike through the park will provide beautiful views of Kalamalka Lake and hardy souls can also enjoy a swim. Conference Banquet

The conference banquet is the evening of Thursday, June 12 at Summerhill Winery and a wine tour and tasting is offered prior to the banquet. Buses departing from either the university or the hotels will transport participants to and from the banquet.

Group Dining in Kelowna

Informal gatherings will be offered for conference participants wishing to explore some of Kelowna's many fine restaurants while enjoying the company of fellow conference attendees. Sign-up sheets will be provided at the registration desk for dinners on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Participants staying in the residences on campus should note that food services are limited at the university and on-campus dinners during the conference must be pre-arranged.

City bus service from downtown Kelowna to the campus is also available.
