Midterm and final exam problems will be similar to the problems on the
assignments. Thus, your performance in this class will depend on
how much effort you put into your assignments. Homework must be
written clearly in order to be marked.

PDE calculations can be exceedingly long and tedious, so some of the
assignments require that you use Maple. You have free access to Maple
on university computers. If you are more familiar with Mathematica,
and have access to that software, you are welcome to do the
assignments in Mathematica.

The assignments below are to be handed in and marked. See the agenda for the due dates and times. The
files are in pdf format. Note that these are the planned assignments,
but they may change depending on the rate at which we cover the course
material. Assignments may be done in groups of up to 5 people. Please hand
in just one assignment per group. Late assignments will not be accepted
- please coordinate with your group to make sure that assignments are handed
in on time (and that you have a backup plan in case the person handing in the
assignment is sick!).

Pre-Reading Assignments
Pre-reading assignment solutions are due by email by 10am the day of class.
Marks are based on only the presence of an attempted solution, and not at all
on the accuracy of said solution. Make sure that your email
has Math319 (all one word) and Pre-Reading Assignment #n (where
n is the appropriate number) in the subject line. The easiest way to make
sure that your email subject line is correct, is to send your solution as a
reply to my email announcing that the pre-reading assignment has been
posted. Since solutions are presented in class, they are not provided
below.
